WV11 (Resolved)
  • Priority - Medium
  • Affecting System - Core Network
  • Our network was subject to a large scale DDoS (Denial of Service) attack today, which resulted in internet and phone services being affected for our clients at multiple sites including Hilton Hall. The scale of the attack was 100GB which caused a slow down and disruption to our managed sites. While we have firewalls and systems in place to prevent these type of attacks this particular attack was so large that it flooded our routers which caused the disruption to services.

We are pleased to say that we have now stopped the attack, and services are returning to normal. Over the next few days we will be adding some additional layers of protection and installing new firewall rules across our core network.

For clients on dedicated links please ensure you are running a firewall and you have it turned on, for clients running our shared service this is already taken care of.

DDoS attacks take place everyday against all types of service provider and even the biggest are taken offline:

Thank you for your understanding, please accept my apologies for the disruption to services.
